When Elly and Eric reached out to me about their Hutchinson Island elopement, they had one big request: something simple, by the water, and full of natural beauty. They were dreaming of a March elopement somewhere quiet, scenic, and low-key romantic. And that’s exactly why a Hutchinson Island elopement ended up being the perfect fit.
As a Treasure Coast elopement photographer, I get to show couples some of the most underrated coastal spots in Florida and Hutchinson Island is one of my absolute favorites. Tucked between the flashier beach towns, it’s got all the beauty of old Florida with none of the crowds. Think: quiet beaches, historic downtown charm, and hidden spots you’d never find on a tourist blog.
Let’s rewind and take a peek at how Elly and Eric’s romantic Hutchinson Island elopement came together.
During the planning phase, Elly and Eric were torn between three Florida areas: Tampa/St. Pete, West Palm Beach, and the Treasure Coast. They were looking for natural beauty and minimal crowds, with a soft spot for anything near the beach. Since the west coast would be SUPER busy for spring break and West Palm Beach didn’t have that laid back, coastal town they were looking for, the Treasure Coast was at the top of their list. Once I described Hutchinson Island’s unique blend of quiet beaches and that small coastal town energy that still feels real and untouched, it was an easy yes for Elly and Eric.
But the real deal maker? Nachos.
In their questionnaire, Elly casually mentioned that she and Eric were always on the hunt for the best nachos. As someone who takes her elopement days (and snacks) seriously, I made it my personal mission to find the perfect nacho spot near Hutchinson Island.
And there is only one spot that comes to mind: Taco Dive in Downtown Fort Pierce. If you know, you know.
Taco Dive is a local staple, and their nachos are piled high with fresh toppings, bold flavors, and just the right amount of messy. It felt like the most Elly + Eric thing ever. And from there, their Hutchinson Island elopement day started coming together naturally.
Here’s how it all unfolded from beachside hotel beginnings to champagne during blue hour:
Elly and Eric started their day at the Hutchinson Island Hotel, a local favorite right on the Fort Pierce Inlet. The vibe was peaceful and low-key. Elly had her hair and makeup done by Make Up Houdini, who created a natural, glowy look that lasted through their entire day. We spent some time capturing details from their day, the slow pace of getting ready, and gearing up for the first look on the dock overlooking the Fort Pierce Inlet.
Before saying their vows, they made a pit stop at Taco Dive in Downtown Fort Pierce. We snapped photos as they laughed over nachos, toasted with sangrias and margaritas, and shared a quiet moment before heading to the beach. It was the perfect start to their day.
After nachos, we took a stroll through Downtown Fort Pierce. The area is full of small town coastal charm with lots of opportunities to capture the architecture and feel. Since they eloped during the week, there were no crowds and no pressure. Just time to enjoy each other and soak it all in.
After their downtown adventure, we made our way to the beach just in time for golden hour. We celebrated them with dreamy beach portraits, a little cake picnic, and a champagne toast. To cap it off, Elly made some seriously delicious Brazilian wedding treats (like casadinho) that I’ve never had before and I’ll continue to dream about forever.
These are the kinds of details that make a Hutchinson Island elopement so special. You can literally build the day around what matters most to you.
There are a lot of reasons couples choose to elope on Hutchinson Island (and Fort Pierce specifically checks so many boxes):
