Tris and Jess’ Fort Pierce boat elopement was everything that makes up a small-town, laidback elopement! Between the salty air, the sunrise views, and champagne toasts, this elopement was the most relaxed way of tying the knot.

If you’re new around here, then let me let you in on a secret – I am a Materials and Processes engineer for an aerospace company by day. About ten years ago, Tris and I started at the company on the same day and he’s since been promoted to be my manager. Needless to say, we go way back. When this photography business was just a little tiny baby, Tris showed Jess my Instagram profile and her and I became instant friends. So when Tris proposed to her in the Bahamas, she had already knew who was going to shoot their elopement *wink, wink*.

Jess and Tris met during an open-water group swim. Right before the swim, Jess realized she forgot goggles and Tris happened to have an extra pair. Who knew that the simple act of forgetting your goggles would lead to this incredible life they have together? Since that fateful day, they’ve trained together, biked together, and swam together for countless races.

Their elopement adventure began right before sunrise aboard “The Last Mango,” Tris’ father’s locally renowned charter fishing boat. The floral creative, Fern and Curl Designs, created garland to decorate the tuna tower and a centerpiece for their ceremony that doubled as a stunning backdrop to their cake table at their brunch reception.

We started the day with portraits to really take advantage of the sunrise golden hour. We ran out of the Fort Pierce inlet and hung around the shoreline to take in the ocean views while being close enough to run back to the dock. After the portraits, we headed back to the dock and picked up their closest friends and family to witness their vow exchange. Situated between the barrier islands of north and south beach, Tris and Jess exchanged vows and every moment of the day was perfect.

Between champagne clinks and congratulations, they cruised around the Indian River Lagoon to soak in the moment. Once we headed back to the dock, Tris and Jess were welcomed by even more friends and family ready to continue the party at Pickled in downtown Fort Pierce.

Having been a witness to this entire day, it really was the best day. The weather was perfect. The ocean was right. The wind was a little eh, but they didn’t care. And everything went off without a hitch. So cheers to you, Tris and Jess! Congrats on becoming Mr. and Mrs. Colket!
