Sasha and Doug’s West Martello Tower elopement in Key West was anything but ordinary. The vibe was easy going, exciting, and playful with stops at all the best places around the island. From the gardens of the towers, cocktail bars off the strip, pizza on the sidewalk, sunset at Mallory Square, and dive bars along Duval. This elopement had everything that made Key West Key West. This day reflected who Sasha and Doug are as the couple that makes anything and everything into an adventure.
As an elopement photographer serving the Florida Keys and Key West, it is my mission to help couples to create these types of elopements where literally anything can be an adventure. It’s no longer about experiencing the same day as another couple, but creating an experience that’s unique to them. Ready to see how the day went?!
Want to learn how you can elope at the West Martello Tower? Here’s a complete guide I’ve created just for you!
Sasha and Doug said their first “I love you’s” on a road trip to the Keys so it felt right to sneak away there for the “I do’s.” When we were planning their day, they knew they wanted a little of everything – getting ready, romping around town, celebratory drinks, and dancing. And while they were down for everything, they needed a little help with coming up with ideas and then narrowing those ideas down. Here’s how we took that vision and created an experience perfect for the two of them.
We started the day at their accommodation at H2O suites. This hotel is tucked away at the far end of Duval Street, which makes it the perfect spot for enjoying post-ceremony adventures around town. Their room was nestled among tons of tropical plants and featured a private pool. Both of these things made their detail and getting ready photos pop. Before we headed to the ceremony, these two shared a bevvy on their porch with cute Mr. and Mrs. koozies.

Their ceremony took place at the gardens of West Martello Tower. This oceanside garden is perfect for couples looking for a semi-private ceremony space with tropical foliage as the backdrop. My favorite part about this location is couples’ ability to choose their ceremony spot. Sasha and Doug walked the garden loop before settling on the orchid gazebo. Before we headed out, Sasha and Doug explored the grounds a little more at leisure for some fun portraits. Then it was off to Duval for some bee bopping around town!

Sasha and Doug wanted fun, organic photos that were quirky and reflective of the two of them. On top of that, they NEEDED to have a sweet treat to celebrate their marriage! Hence, a champagne pop and cake cutting at the famous Tropic Cinema. This is a favorite among couples for it’s vintage vibes with bold vibrant colors. Sasha and Doug popped champagne on the street, then cut the cake on the side walk of the cinema while sipping champagne.

Two of my favorite elopement day stops? Cocktails and pizza. That’s exactly what Sasha and Doug did. We walked Duval to the infamous Angelina’s Pizza for slices, then stopped at The Roost and Tropicado for delish cocktails. It was the perfect exploration before heading to Mallory Square to watch the sunset.

But the night wasn’t complete without stapling a dollar to a world famous Key West bar! Queue – Captain Tony’s Saloon! We stopped in here for some shots, party vibes, and a commemorative dollar bill on the wall. Now Sasha and Doug’s story is forever a part of Key West history.

If you love the idea of eloping at West Martello Tower, but need a little help narrowing down all the ideas just like Sasha and Doug, then I would love to show you how it can all come together!
