This romantic Roatán wedding at Ibagari Boutique Hotel is what tropical destination wedding dreams were made of!

If you’re not familiar with Roatán, this Caribbean island located off the coast of Honduras is known for world-class diving and snorkeling along the Mesoamerican Reef. People from all over the world to come here to experience the reefs submerged in the crystal clear water, beautiful beaches, and tropical landscapes. So for these two deep sea divers, a Roatán wedding was the obvious choice to celebrate their day.

While the diving was a bonus for these two, their story actually started out here. Kelly and Erik both grew up in Honduras, but never knew each other. Their lives had unknowingly crossed paths as proven by the cutest elementary photos together! After finally connecting here in the States and falling in love, Erik proposed to Kelly underneath a waterfall. Erik was able to capture the entire adventure on his go pro and set it to their favorite song. After watching it, I can attest that the video would bring anyone to tears.

Their Wedding Day

When planning their wedding in Roatán, Kelly and Erik wanted an all-inclusive luxe experience to celebrate with their closest friends and family all weekend long. They rented out the Ibagari Boutique Hotel for their bridal party accommodations and wedding venue. This boutique hotel is a luxurious eight suite hotel situated on a private stretch of beach. Between the clean lines of the modern design and the warmth of the Caribbean-inspired details strewn throughout the property, this location is a gorgeous backdrop for a romantic and intimate wedding celebration.

Their day started out getting ready separately in their private suites. Kelly spent the morning hanging out with her bridesmaids enjoying mimosa and a slow morning. Erik got ready with his groomsmen and puffed cigars and sipped whiskey on the porch. When it was time for their first look in the breeze way of the hotel, the emotions were high and Erik cried at the sight of his gorgeous bride. I LIVE FOR MOMENTS LIKE THESE.

Their ceremony took place on the beach in front of Ibagari with a gorgeous sunset. After the ceremony, we explored the hotel grounds and marina. We drove up to a little jungle-like location for some unique portraits before heading back to the celebration with their friends and family. The night was filled with food, dancing, and lots of laughs. It was such a good time.

My favorite part about this Roatán wedding weekend was how quickly Kelly and Erik became friends. Between going to the local dives together and celebrating post-wedding into the early morning, I was immediately treated like family. When clients become friends, the weddings become so much more special.
