If you want to elope on 30A for something more relaxed, romantic, and luxe, then this guide was made for you! The Emerald Coast brings white-sand beaches, turquoise water, and a day that’s all about you and your partner to your elopement day. This stretch of the Florida Gulf Coast is made up of the cutest beach towns like Seaside, Rosemary Beach, Alys Beach, and Seagrove, each offering their own version of Florida beauty, luxury, and coastal vibes. But before you get set on one of these places, you need to know that the wedding rules of each town can differ dramatically.
As an elopement photographer and Florida native, I’ve helped dozens of couples create fun and unique elopement adventures using my local guidance and expertise. Part of that guidance and expertise is helping couples understand the rules and requirements around eloping in a particular location. I’ve created this guide to give you as much information about eloping on 30A so you feel confident in your next steps!

Before we get into the fun stuff, let’s talk legalities. To get married in 30A, you’ll need a Florida marriage license! For a full breakdown of Florida marriage requirements, read through the How to Elope in Florida resource.
But to elope on 30A specifically, here’s what you need to know:
Need help navigating the marriage paperwork? Learn about the experience of how I can help walk you through it (and everything else), so you can elope on 30A stress-free and fun!

When couples think about eloping on 30A, they’re envisioning a wedding ceremony on the beach. After all, the sand and water are two of the biggest draws to elope on 30A.
But before you get your sights set on eloping on a particular beach, you need to know that not all 30A beaches are the same! There are TONS of rules and regulations surrounding beach weddings on the Emerald Coast. Not being informed about these can result in you being asked to leave on your wedding day. And trust me, they will ask you to leave (or worse).
If you want to legally get married on the beach, here’s what you need to know:

While 30A is stunning for weddings and elopements, it’s also highly regulated. And to be quite transparent, it’s for good reason. As an elopement photographer that travels the entire state of Florida, the 30A area has some of the most pristine beaches…because of these rules and regulations. With over 15 unique communities along 30A with their own set of rules and regulations, this can be daunting for couples thinking about eloping on 30A. We will go over the most popular spots along 30A, but always double check rules and restrictions with the applicable communities before picking a ceremony location!

Rosemary Beach is Florida’s version of Santorini. If you want to elope on 30A, this is the ultimate location for luxe European vibes right on the ocean. Rosemary is known for its European-inspired cobblestone architecture. And while you can’t get married exclusively on the beach without booking a second venue through the Rosemary Beach property managers, you’ll be able to take post-ceremony photographs on the beach and in the common area as long as you meet the requirements.
To have permission to photograph on the beach and in the common area, you must stay on-property through their exclusive property management (Rosemary Beach Rentals). However, if you’re not guest of Rosemary Beach Rentals, you can still acquire a permit with a $500 fee. Outside vendors must be pre-approved or on their vendor list to be permitted to work on-site.
If you dream of getting marred on Rosemary Beach, Walton County offers beaches nearby! This will allow you to be right next to Rosemary Proper for any activities you have after the ceremony. There are also tons more beach options along 30A! Walton County beaches include regional access points like Miramar Beach, Dune Allen Beach, Blue Mountain Beach, Grayton Beach, Seagrove Beach, and Inlet Beach. All of these options are gorgeous in their own right.
Walton County requires event permits for beach weddings depending on the size of the part. For 1 to 30 people, the fee is $150 with fees increasing with more guests. Additionally, any professional photographers photographing on beaches must have a Walton County Beach Vendor Permit that’s renewed annually.
The most iconic 30A beach town with classic beach cottages and pastel buildings. Seaside elopements are timeless and fun. This is a great location for a more laid back celebration. Seaside elopements can happen at public beach accesses with a permit or in areas near rental homes with beach access, but require a booking through Seaside. Seaside requires pre-approval for photography.
Alys Beach is one of the most dreamy locations along 30A filled with whitewashed buildings and palm-lined courtyards. I call it Florida’s version of Santorini. And while this location is stunning, it’s near impossible to elope here.
Alys Beach only allows weddings if you’re an Alys Beach property owner or Alys Beach Vacation Rental Guest with an pre-approved photographer. Photography is not permitted in front of privately owned homes within Alys Beach. Click the link to read more about their photography policies. You’ll need to go through the Alys Beach concierge for the list and permission.
Destin is more touristy than the other locations along 30A, which make the requirements more relaxed. This location only requires beach weddings of more than 20 people to have an event permit. Beach wedding permits are only available for The Shore at Crystal Beach Park and June White Decker Beach Park. Park Event Permits are not available for beach access points. For details, call the City of Destin Parks and Recreation Department at (850) 837-4242. Additionally, Destin is within Okaloosa County and any professional photographers must have an Okaloosa County Beach Vendor Permit that’s renewed annually.
