Nestled in the heart of Florida, Kelly Park Rock Springs is a hidden gem, making it the perfect spot for an beautiful engagement. When Lucy and Dan’s proposal day arrived, it was a culmination of months of planning, secret emails, and a whole lot of excitement.
I had known Lucy from our days working together when I was an aerospace materials engineers, and when she casually mentioned wanting me to shoot their elopement someday, I couldn’t resist a little nudge to Dan. I sent him an email at work saying that I might know someone that could shoot his proposal when he was ready. Sadly, Dan never replied. Fast forward a few months, and I got an email from Dan, but this time it was to my photography email.
The day began with suspense…as all proposal days do. Dan and I had been in constant communication, coordinating the details to ensure everything went smoothly. But as with any great proposal story, there were plot twists. Both of their parents ended up at the wrong spot and were now running late (thanks, Siri), leaving me with the challenge of keeping the proposal area clear. Meanwhile, Dan circled the park, nervously buying time.
With minutes to spare, their parents were able to meet me to hide behind trees. With that “we are ready” text I sent to Dan, he led Lucy to the flat rock overlooking the blue water spring. As he got down on one knee, the look of surprise and joy on Lucy’s face was everything.
After the proposal, we continued to capture their happiness with an engagement shoot. The natural beauty of Kelly Park Rock Springs, combined with Lucy and Dan’s happiness, made every shot literal magic.
Here’s to Dan and Lucy! 🥂
