Ever wondered what it would be like to have a Florida adventure elopement? Well, Taylor and Harrison did. They were already married and had a full-blown wedding a couple of years back, but wished they had done something more true to themselves. They wanted to take back their day and celebrate with their very own Florida adventure elopement on the family fishing boat!
Taylor and Harrison spend their lives out on the water. It only made sense that their adventure elopement include the ocean. When planning this elopement, I knew this about Taylor and Harrison –
Going in with that information, I curated this customized elopement plan:
If you’re familiar with Florida, you know that what you had planned and what you actually did are completely up to chance. On their elopement day, Florida had a different idea of what their elopement plan would look like. We wanted sunny and 75, but Florida wanted breezy and 55 with 7-8′ seas. What did this mean? We pivoted.
We arrived at the boat dock an hour before sunrise so we could get settled. As the captain took us to the inlet, Taylor and Harrison helped each other get ready for their vows. I’m a huge fan of first looks, but there’s something so sweet and intimate about helping each other get ready.
As the sun came up, Taylor and Harry exchanged vows – re-promising everything they did on their wedding day. Outside of the angry seas, we had the best sunrise ceremony for them.
As it warmed up, we headed to the back of the boat to make bee’s knees cocktails – lemony, gingery, cucumber-y, light, and perfect for the water boat drink. After this day, a bee’s knees have become one of my favorite cocktails! Taylor and Harry helped each other muddle, shake, and pour their cocktails. I like to consider it a unique and fun unity ceremony!
After we snapped portraits in their wedding outfits, Taylor and Harry changed into bathing suits for island hopping. We stopped at an island that had the most gorgeous mangroves. Changing from a wedding dress to a bikini is my favorite part about a Florida elopement. Even though it was freezing, Taylor and Harry managed to have the best time playing in the water and enjoying their time together. Even with pivoting their plans, the inshore fishing, Busch light shot guns, and wedding cake smash turned out tot be the best damn day.
At the end of the day, this entire day was about Taylor and Harrison having the best freaking time of their lives to celebrate their marriage. It didn’t matter that the seas were actin’ a fool. It didn’t matter that it was also cold AF. It mattered that the good vibes were there, we took the obstacles and turned them into something better, and went with the flow.
