Key Largo Elopement | Jessica + James

Jessica and James had their Key Largo elopement at the Kona Kai Botanical Resort and it was everything an elopement is meant to be – relaxing, intimate, and totally about the two of them.

Kona Kai is the perfect resort for a Key Largo elopement! There’s these cute private cottages dotting the property that opens up to a huge dock with expansive views of the gulf. Honestly, it’s a first-class seat to the most epic Florida sunsets and exactly what Florida key elopements need. Jessica and James invited me down to Kona Kai to take some photos, make inappropriate jokes, explore the property, and grill out.

After Jessica got ready in their cottage, her and I headed down to the dock for the ceremony. As we were walking out, we didn’t realize the officiant wasn’t even there and we were walking prematurely – pretty much an oh shit moment – but it was hilarious. It’s a reminder that when you elope you can do whatever you freakin’ want and it’s truly freeing. During the ceremony, Jessica and James exchanged dollar bill rings and ring pops. They said the sweetest vows. We were photobombed. They had the most epic sunset. It was amazing.

After the ceremony, we hung out for a while and captured alllllllll the portraits showing off their flame for each other around the property. Afterwards, these two grilled and chilled with their favorite third wheel at their cottage tiki. We found this really cool elephant chair and hung out in the Kona Kai art gallery. We ate some cake. We accidentally broke the dress. We did all the things. We had a freakin’ blast and I wish these two a lifetime of inside jokes, tons of laughter, and so many adventures.
